SanDisk Ultra Flair 1TB (SDCZ75-1T00-G46) – Our First 1TB Flash Drive Recovery

This one was a first for us. We just finished up a SanDisk Ultra Flair SDCZ75-1T00-G46 — a full 1TB USB flash drive — and as far as I know it’s the first 1TB SanDisk we’ve ever had on the bench. The drive came in unreadable after a failed transfer, Windows wanted to format it, and the controller was alive but the NAND was throwing read errors.

So we ran it through our read retry pipeline instead of a single pass. Each bad region got re-read many times at different reference voltages. End result, a clean image of all 1TB and 100% of the customer’s data back — photos, project archives, working documents, all of it. Pretty cool to see the same multi-read techniques we’ve been using on smaller SanDisk drives scale up cleanly to a terabyte. I suspect we’ll be seeing a lot more of these.
